Pine Trees in the Dawn
I saw some pine trees and I immediately thought to photograph them- the silhouettes were really striking against the sky. The crispness of the pine needles is pretty preserved, as are the round leaves. The painting does loose some of this, but the way the branches reach out is and the flecks do create a nice texture.
Through the Thicket
As I was walking through the Arb, I saw the moon through the thin trees and I thought that it would a nice shot. I didn't get the moon, at all, but the white light does work well with the many thin branches. I do like the painting- the small circles of color create a lovely texture for the sky.
The Trees against the Blue Sky
The trees looked really impressive, especially at the angle I took, in the first picture- you can really see the size and imposing-ness of the trees. The painting was a wider shot, and, as such, got a house in the bottom, so I had to edit that out. I did get the fifth tree, though, and the filter makes the thinner/thicker tree contrast look really interesting.
The Setting Sun
The sunset in the back with the many colors in the picture looked really immersive. I amplified the colors a bit in the second one, as some details were lost- I think that the purples in the background vs. the green trees is amazing.
Trees in the Distance
The negative space here is pretty interesting. In the first, it's white- I think I increased the brightness, which edges it to white, but the second has blue, which I think works better with the painting's fuzziness.
